The transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) syndrome is a severe
vascular hypotension reaction that complicates endoscopic surgery as a result
of massive irrigating fluid absorption causing a drop of serum sodium concentration of
>15mmol/l inducing severe acute dilution hyponatraemia (HN) of
<120mmol/l [1].
